Peachs and blueberries.

A couple of weeks ago I got some peaches and blueberries from a produce stand, the girl working there promised that the produce they sold had been picked either late in the day the day before or that morning. The peaches were really sweet and tasty, the blueberries were great, I could have eaten them all that evening. However, I wanted to make jam so I stopped myself from eating them and went in search of no pectin added recipes for peach jam and blueberry jam. I was able to find a couple and decided to make them the next morning while it was still fairly cool. I got 10 half pints of the peach and 6 of the blueberry. They taste wonderful, the blueberry is ... well it isn't jam. It's more a syrup with blueberry chunks in it. It's pretty in the jar, and tastes great but doesn't work very well on toast. The peach turned out nice, it's soft set, just thick enough not to drip off my toast. In other words it's just about perfect! Next time I'll get pectin for the blueberries, I'd like to be able to eat it on toast.

Here's some pictures of the finished product. Maybe one day I'll get good enough to take pictures as I go ... but don't hold your breath. LOL

A closer look.
The whole spread.
The short jars.
The short jars are half pints just like the others. I thought they were cute and for $5 I thought they would make nice gift jars. I'll have to get some more, because the blueberry didn't turn into jam.

I'm planning on making some pineapple jam, because The Boy loves pineapple, and some jalapeno jam just because it sounds interesting.
